player. 13. Something that isn’t talked about much is the Chargers moving to a 4-3 defense. They’ve been one of the tougher teams to evaluate through the process and that’s because they’ve been so quiet. There hasn’t been a ton of talk of who they’ve met with but I’d think they’ve done their research on Solomon Thomas.
While having an extremely impressive Combine, Thomas has gotten lost in the shuffle. He’s ranged from the 2nd overall pick to the 11th overall pick. Here’s what he did at the Combine:

Height: 6’3
Weight: 273 lbs.
40-yard dash: 4.69 seconds
Bench press: 30 reps
Vertical jump: 35 inches
Broad jump: 126 inches
3-cone drill: 6.95 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.28 seconds

Either way, he should hear his name around this range. While he’s not big enough to play inside, he’s not long enough off the edge to consistently rush the passer. However, he’s still efficient enough off the edge to contribute in pressuring the quarterback and stopping the run. After all, he did have 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks this past season.

Moving to a 4-3 defense would move Brandon Mebane and Corey Liuget to defensive tackle. This leaves a huge hole opposite of Joey Bosa and I think Solomon Thomas would be an ideal fit. Thomas has all the athletic ability you look for in a defensive end and his motor is non-stop. This could lead to the Chargers having one of the best defensive lines in all of football.
. Defensive End. Stanford. Solomon Thomas. 7
