6. player. 30. Revis Island is no longer a thing for the New York Jets. Neither is much else of their secondary. That’s not an insult, that’s the truth. They recently signed Morris Claiborne and have Calvin Pryor but there’s limited depth behind them. When you list the Jets and their needs, it stretches out to about six or seven positions. From quarterback to cornerback and everything in-between, the Jets need something.

With some shuffling around the top 5, Marshon Lattimore is available. While this is a deep cornerback class, Marshon Lattimore should be their top ranked cornerback. There’s a rumor of him falling down draft boards and his teammate, Gareon Conley, getting drafted higher than him. Much of that is linked to Lattimore and his hamstring injuries. While they are concerning, his athleticism, hip rotation and closing ability makes him the better prospect.

Here’s what he did at the Combine:

Height: 6’0
Weight: 193 lbs.
40-yard dash: 4.36 seconds
Vertical jump: 38.5 inches
Broad jump: 132 inches

Even though he’s got Pro-Bowl ability, there are some concerns that he isn’t pro-ready. One year of production can help support that case but what a year of production it was. He was all over the field and made numerous big plays. This led to four interceptions and nine pass deflections.

In a division that has Tom Brady, trying to stop him should be one of this team’s goals. Marshon Lattimore won’t do it himself but he’s a really good starting point for a team that desperately needs cornerback.
. Cornerback. Ohio State. Marshon Lattimore
