Safety. LSU. Jamal Adams. 3. player. 57. Deshaun Watson to the Bears may be the biggest smokescreen of this draft. Honestly, how can a team that just coughed up $18,500,000 million dollars per year to Mike Glennon, draft a quarterback with their first pick? If that’s the decision they make, sign me up as their next general manager. While drafting someone like Solomon Thomas makes sense, Jamal Adams makes even more sense.

Improving his numbers at his pro-day should make Adams a top-5 pick but here’s what he did at the Combine:

Height: 6’0
Weight: 214 lbs.
40-yard dash: 4.56 seconds
Bench press: 18 reps
Vertical jump: 31.5 inches
Broad jump: 120 inches
3-cone drill: 6.96 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.13 seconds

The Bears did sign Quentin Demps but at age 31, you have to wonder what’s left. Jamal Adams is a huge upgrade over anything they have in their secondary. Adrian Amos has been a nice mid-round snag for the Bears but he doesn’t have an interception in his career, yet. Bringing in Adams, a lot of that can change.

There isn’t a more talked about player in this draft from a leadership perspective. He’s great all over the field and has all the physical traits you’re looking for in an All-Pro safety. He’s a hard hitter and has better ball-skills then he gets credit for.

Draft evaluators could make a case for Malik Hooker because of what he brings to the table but with some of the injuries and one-year production, Adams has to be the guy. The Bears defense isn’t great but it isn’t bad. Either way, Adams would be a brilliant pick for this organization.
