Connecticut. Obi Melifonwu. 26. player. 36. The Legion of Boom is starting to fade and it’s because of injuries and age. There’s been a lot of chatter about Richard Sherman potentially being traded and while it might not happen this year, it could happen within the next year or two.
There’s limited depth behind Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas at the safety position. Obi is a natural fit at the position but with his athletic ability and length, he could even be considered to be a cornerback. After all, he spent some time working out as a cornerback this off-season.

Obi can play well in the box as he’s a very good tackler. Coming downhill with his athletic ability is what he does best. Improving his coverage ability should be taken into consideration, as he isn’t one of the top tier coverage players in this draft. However, putting him with the Seahawks can help improve that. This won’t be a pick that looks great on day one but by the end of it all, he could become a solid player at the next level.
. Safety
