28. After cutting Dan Williams last week, the Raiders tipped their hand on the draft, in my opinion. Looking at their defensive line, they’re extremely thin at the defensive tackle position. Drafting a player like Malik McDowell screams boom or bust but pairing him with a former teammate could pay off. That former teammate is Shilique Calhoun who was one of the team captains for the Spartans during the 2015 season.

Everyone realizes McDowell’s skill-set and there’s no denying him as a top 5 talent. However, he checks out of games and doesn’t have a high motor. There were issues with him at Michigan State this past season but hopefully putting him in hands of Jack Del Rio can pay off.

McDowell is a versatile player who can come off the edge or play inside as solid 3 technique. He’s an active pass rusher but can make his presence felt in the run game with a proper bend down the line of scrimmage. This could be a steal of the first round if he puts everything together.
.
