59. Players like Forrest Lamp and Ryan Ramczyk are on the board and seem more likely. However, there is a need for another edge rusher on this defense. Cameron Wake is 35 years old and newly acquired, William Hayes is 31. When the season rolls around, Barnett will only be 21 years of age and has the potential to be a really talented edge rusher. Keep in mind, the Dolphins only had 33 sacks as a defense last year so trying to find a stronger presence off the edge should be be considered.
Barnett hasn’t had the strongest pre-draft process and there’s certain reasons for it. At the Combine, he got a virus which forced him to not compete at 100%. Here are his numbers from the Combine:

Height: 6’3
Weight: 259 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.88 seconds
Bench press: n/a
Vertical jump: 31 inches
Broad jump: 117 inches
3-cone drill: 6.96 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.44 seconds

There was much hope that those times would improve some at his pro day but he didn’t. Apparently he performed with a pulled hamstring during his pro day and that’s why there wasn’t much improvement for his times. Right now, he’s just not where you want him to be athletically. From a football perspective, he’s extremely talented. He’s most ideal for a 3-4 edge rushing role but he can put his hand in the dirt. Pairing him next to Ndamukong Suh could lead to multiple years of success for the Dolphins. Barnett has always been productive thanks to his quick and powerful hand usage and lateral ability. He finished this season as a First Team All-American, thanks to his 18 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. If Barnett can get into better football shape, he’ll become more efficient at the next level but there’s no denying what he’s done. This could pay off big time with the amount of talent he has.
.
