Linebacker. Florida. Jarrad Davis. 21. player. 50. Going into the off-season, the Detroit Lions needed a linebacker. After cutting DeAndre Levy, they’ll most definitely need one. Even though Levy hasn’t been healthy for some time, there was still hope that he’d make it back on the field again. Now that he’s gone, the Lions will focus on this draft on finding his replacement. That replacement should be Jarrad Davis.
Davis is an athletic linebacker who can fill a void at one of the outside linebacker positions. He didn’t compete at the Combine as he was still healing from an injury but he did participate at the Florida Gator’s Pro Day. Here’s how he did:

Height: 6’1
Weight: 238 lbs
40-yard dash: 4.56 seconds
Vertical jump: 38.5 inches

There’s a lot of value with Davis and he’s only going to get better. At Florida, he tallied up 94 tackles and 11 tackles for loss during the 2015 season. Then injuries got the best of him during this past season. He only played in nine games but he did manage to rack up 60 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks. Throughout his career at Florida, he did have his share of injuries. Torn meniscus in 2014 and missed some time this past season with a leg injury.

Davis comes over the top well with his athletic ability but he doesn’t always take the cleanest way of getting there. There’s times that it looks like he’s got tunnel vision on the field. Certainly, he’s a boom or bust player because of the injuries but he’d be a great fit with Whitehead and Worrilow.
