Going to come out and say it right now, Malik Hooker is my third overall prospect on my big board. Outside of Haason Reddick, Malik Hooker is the one guy I like most in the first round. From the range that he displays to the ball skills, he can become an Ed Reed like safety, at the next level. However, there are a lot of concerns with him, his injuries and his overall raw talent. So realistically, I have him dropping out of my top 10 and have him falling exactly where he should, the Colts.
From being injured to just not having enough talent, the Colts do not have a very good secondary. Vontae Davis is getting older and there isn’t much talent around him. The only player worth noting at safety is Clayton Geathers and he’s been far from a difference maker for the Colts.

Adding a player like Hooker can become a huge difference maker for the Colts. He had seven interceptions this past season and played through his injuries. That’s impressive for a player that could have easily decided that his professional career was more important than some bowl game. Protecting Andrew Luck will be one of the goals within this draft but with this pick, they have to take the best player available.
. Safety. Ohio State. Malik Hooker. 15. player. 46
