A record that has been held for over a decade stands to fall at the NFL Draft

Football powerhouses control the majority of the NFL Draft, primarily the first round. Between Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, and USC as many as a dozen prospects could be drafted each year.

In 2017 The Ohio State University will attempt to see a record 10 players drafted in the first round between this year and last.

When the draft was held in Chicago last year the Buckeyes saw Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa, Taylor Decker, Darron Lee, and Eli Apple go in the first round.

This year’s potential class of Marshon Lattimore, Malik Hooker, and Gareon Conley, who’s been accused of sexual assault in Cleveland.

Assuming all three of those players clear the necessary hurdles to be drafted, the school will tie Alabama’s 2011-12 third place standing in the most players drafted in the first round in consecutive years.

To surpass Miami’s record 10 players drafted in the first rounds of 2003-04 the Buckeyes would need Raekwon McMillan and Curtis Samuel to slide into the first round. Both are projected second round picks.

Next: Seven Round Mock Draft

Next year Ohio State is expected to see just as many first round picks declare, including Sam Hubbard, J.T. Barrett, Parris Campbell, and Taquon Lewis.

Alabama will be another school to watch in future drafts, especially with at most five prospects going on Thursday night.
