Inside the New England Patriots Draft Room: Who Will Join the Super Bowl Champions
Centers
The Patriots have a few options to play center, but upgrading the position through the draft is always a possibility. An undrafted free agent in 2015, David Andrews started all 19 games for the Patriots last season. The race for the backup spot is wide open and could even be filled by guards Shaq Mason or Ted Karras.
Highly-valued skills:
40-yard dash, 10-yard split, three cone, short shuttle (53 graded)
1. Parker Dawe (BYU) – 60%
1. Cam Keizur (Portland State) – 60%
1. Steven Matlock (Idaho) – 60%
1. Mark Spelman (Illinois State) – 60%
1. Cameron Tom (Southern Mississippi) – 60%
6. Will Kreitler (UNLV) – 33.3%
6. Riley Shantz (Missouri State) – 33.3%
8. Ethan Pocic (LSU) – 20%
9. Max Andrews (Maine) – 6.6%
9. Kyle Fuller (Baylor) – 6.6%
9. Eddie Gordon (Louisiana-Lafayette) 6.6%
Fell below the minimum threshold in one category, but still finished with a positive score:
1. Barrett Gouger (Vanderbilt) – 13.3%
Pocic and Fuller are the two most recognizable names on this list, however Cam Keizur might fit New England’s scheme better than either of them. His style of play, especially as a zone blocker, in addition to his experience playing both center and guard make him a very likely target after the draft is over.
