Wide Receivers Under 6-feet

The Patriots already have a very good quartet of receivers under six-feet tall. Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell and now Brandin Cooks all fit into this category. Amendola was a potential cap casualty, however he restructured his deal and is now more likely to make the final roster. As a result, don’t expect the Patriots to land any of these prospects unless it’s after the draft.

Highly-valued skills:

arm length, hand size, 40-yard dash, 10-yard split, bench press, vertical, broad jump, three cone, short shuttle (135 graded)

1. Montay Crockett (Georgia Southern) – 50%

2. Riley McCarron (Iowa) – 30%

3. Brandon Holloway (Mississippi State) – 10%

3. Levern Jacobs (Maryland) – 10%

Fell below the minimum threshold in one category, but still finished with a positive score:

1. John Ross (Washington) – 25%

2. Shaq Hill (Eastern Washington) – 20%

2. Speedy Noil (Texas A&M) – 20%

2. Jerico Richardson (Nevada) – 20%

5. Garry Brown (California, PA) – 15%

6. Curtis Samuel (Ohio State) – 5%

John Ross is the top prospect on this list, however his injury history is a big red flag and he shouldn’t be on the board by the time the Patriots are on the clock anyways. Curtis Samuel is another highly-rated player, but the Patriots added a RB/WR hybrid last season in D.J. Foster. If the Patriots do bring in another undersized wideout, it will be someone with kick return ability. The team had nine different players return a kick last season, with the team-leader returning just eight.
