There is no quarterback controversy in Alabama, but Tua Tagovailoa shined in his first game in Crimson and White.

It is a very daunting task to play for Alabama, let alone your first “game.”  On that note, Tua Tagovailoa shined in his first chance in Tuscaloosa, throwing for 313 yards on 29 attempts, completing 17.

The 4-star lefty looked poised in the pocket, establishing a rapport with the wide receivers he looks to connect with in the coming years with three touchdowns.

Coming from the high school that produced Marcus Mariota, you could see glimpses of explosion the dual threat QB possesses.

Although he looks to continue the great lineage of Alabama football, Jalen Hurts has a firm grasp on the job.  Moreover, Hurts also had a very successful day on the field, throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns.

Although the defense seemed to be running at half speed, the quarterback position seems to be another strength you can check off for the Tide.

Below you can see highlights from Tua Tagovailoa’s illustrious high school career.  His career included setting the record for most passing yards in the state of Hawaii with 8,158.

His senior season was where he did the most damage, throwing for 3,932 yards and 43 scores.  With numbers like that, it is no surprise that he was named the unanimous high school player of the year in Hawaii.

Tagovailoa will be a staple for years, even if that means he comes in during different packages.  Listed at 6’1 215 lbs., he is a pretty good size height-wise, but filling out his body will be one of Nick Saban’s priorities in the coming months.

The Tide will attempt to reach their third-consecutive National Championship game starting with a tough season opener against Florida State September 2nd in Tuscaloosa.
