ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay thinks there’s a chance Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs could sneak into the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft…

There’s been a lot of talk about the quarterback class in the 2017 NFL Draft, and no one seems to really be at a consensus of who is the top prospect, or what guys comprise the top five. Josh Dobbs of Tennessee is a player that hasn’t been talked about a lot among the best of the best in this year’s draft, but might he be just that?

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay has been giving Dobbs a lot of love lately, recently ranking him in his top five quarterbacks for this year’s draft. However, no one has made more bold a claim regarding Dobbs than McShay did on ESPN’s Mike and Mike radio show.

"“I think Josh Dobbs from Tennessee is going to go early second round — if he doesn’t sneak into the late first..”– ESPN’s Todd McShay"

The allure of Dobbs is obvious. There are some who feel like he could potentially be this year’s version of what Dak Prescott was for the Dallas Cowboys because of his arm, athletic ability, poise, intelligence, and production.

Add it all up with the fact that Dobbs played at a high level in the vaunted SEC, and you have a player that NFL teams are going to certainly look on fondly.

But the late first round?

That seems a bit rich, even for someone as likeable as Dobbs.

McShay must have seen Dobbs’ segment on Gruden’s QB Camp…

All kidding aside, I think the sentiment regarding Dobbs is right. Whether or not he gets picked as high as McShay says here doesn’t really matter. He’s going to produce in the NFL and it’s going to be because of the skills he has that can’t be coached or taught.

Dobbs’ flaws are correctible, and in the right situation, he could be a steal for some NFL team.
