Will an NFL team spend a top 10, top 15 pick on an offensive guard? I don’t see why not, at least in the case of Forrest Lamp. When you look at what this guy brings to the table in terms of versatility at the next level, I think the opportunity is there for him to be an elite guard or top flight tackle. Some feel like he can be a great center, similar to Cody Whitehair coming out last year as well.
I have no doubt that when an NFL team tells Lamp, “You’re playing here,” he’s going to be great at it. If Brandon Scherff can be a top five pick, why not Lamp? This year’s draft class is not so highly regarded by mainstream media, but Lamp is an elite player with elite athletic traits and the ability to be a major asset on any team’s offensive line.
With the apparent shortage of good offensive linemen in today’s NFL, the demand for Forrest Lamp should be incredibly high. It wouldn’t surprise me if he snuck into the top 10 selections based off his stellar tape and positional flexibility, but if he lasts past pick no. 20 overall, it’s highway robbery.
