31. player. 44. Even though Vic Beasley led the NFL in sacks last season, the Falcons Defense had a pass rush that was sporadic at best. Charlton, possessing good size and strength to gain traction against opposing offensive lines, could serve as a nice compliment to Beasley in order to allow the Falcons to get more pressure on the quarterback. His speed and athleticism are very impressive for a pass rusher, allowing him the ability to make plays in the open field. While he is still unpolished against the run, Charlton’s long wing span and improving use of his hands leaves great potential for development into a strong run defender. Overall, he’s an NFL ready selection with tremendous potential if coached correctly, and he seems to be the “fast and physical” type that Falcons head coach Dan Quinn loves.

Charlton is an easy pick as most NFL scouts see him as a decent starting pass rusher at the very worst. He can likely start from day one, giving good competition to the rest of the Falcons and solidifying a young and developing defense. Further, the Falcons defensive backfield struggled some in 2016, due to injuries and youth, but a boost to the pass rush would take pressure off of the secondary.
. DE. Michigan. Taco Charlton
