The Colts desperately need playmakers on defense, as new general manager Chris Ballard has already overhauled the team’s once aging linebacking corps with Reddick being this offseason’s finishing touch here. <p>Speed, athleticism, pass rush.</p> <p>Reddick provides all 3, and whether he starts inside or outside at linebacker for Indianapolis, he has the immense physical potential to greatly improve the second level of the Colts defense.</p> <p>The 6’1″, 237 pound pass rusher finished with a team high 10.5 sacks last season for the Owls and finished third in the nation with 22.5 tackles for loss, as he made a living in opposing offense’s backfields–earning 1st-Team All-Conference honors.</p> <p>Per Pro Football Focus, Reddick led all 3-4 outside linebackers in pass rushing productivity from the left side with 31 total pressures and 8 sacks on 127 rushes.</p> <p>For a Colts team that saw its all-time franchise sack leader Robert Mathis recently retire and let last season’s team sack leader Erik Walden leave in free agency, the defense could sorely use pass rush even with the additions of free agents Jabaal Sheard and John Simon at linebacker.</p> <p>Either inside or outside, Reddick figures to bolster the Colts pass rush and overall production at linebacker for the foreseeable future.</p>.
