Browns executives appear to have let their draft plans slip out

Once again the Cleveland Browns level of ineptitude haunts them as the NFL Draft approaches next weekend.

Reports out of Cleveland arose regarding a possible rift in the draft room regarding whether or not to draft quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the number one overall pick. Cleveland could hope Trubisky falls to the 12th selection, where they own Philadelphia’s original pick from the Carson Wentz trade.

Executive Vice President Sashi Brown confirmed that quarterback Brock Osweiler will compete for the starting quarterback job after being acquired in a trade with Houston. The Texans dumped Osweiler’s contract on the Browns with a second round pick to thank Cleveland for relieving them of a poor cap decision.

Considering the organization recently drafted Cody Kessler out of USC and gave him the opportunity to play last season it would not make sense for the Browns to use a high draft pick on a quarterback.

This has been a point I’ve stressed for weeks regarding the Browns and their eternal search for a quarterback. Cleveland needs to build a team with their high draft picks if a franchise quarterback is not available.

Give Kessler, who the Browns clearly saw something in last year, or the Super Bowl champion Osweiler a chance to win a handful of games for Cleveland.

The city deserves a quality franchise, and they can no longer waste time bouncing from quarterback to quarterback.
