The Cleveland Browns have apparently made their decision with the first overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, according to Sashi Brown…

The Cleveland Browns won’t have to wait long to turn in their card for the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. According to general manager Sashi Brown, the team ‘feels good’ about who they will take in that slot.

While Brown wouldn’t officially say who he was taking with that top pick, the writing is seemingly on the wall at this point. The Browns will most likely end up taking Myles Garrett, the star pass rusher from Texas A&M.

Garrett has the potential to be a franchise-altering selection for Cleveland, and they can’t pass on him for Mitchell Trubisky or any of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft. Brown did say, however, that Brock Osweiler would get the chance to compete for his team’s starting job…

Osweiler will be competing with Cody Kessler and likely a player drafted in the first couple of rounds of the 2017 draft.

There have been a lot of rumors that the Browns are most interested in North Carolina’s Trubisky, who is an Ohio native and certainly has all of the tools to be a franchise quarterback. In order to secure the services of someone like Trubisky, the Browns would more than likely have to move off of their no. 12 overall slot and trade up.

That’s certainly a possibility, but at what cost?

Whatever team the Browns look to trade up with will probably want the 33rd overall pick (top selection in round two) in return for their sacrifice. That top selection on day two is one of the most coveted among NFL teams, so it would indicate the Browns’ level of dedication and commitment to someone like Trubisky if they surrendered that pick to move up and get him.

This is an important draft for the Browns, obviously. They are a team that has some talented pieces, but need the on-field product to catch up. Adding Garrett first overall is a no-brainer, and getting a potential franchise quarterback right after that is a distinct possibility.
