3rd Round

The Bears have to come out of the first three rounds with a safety. They’ve put that off for too long as is and the position remains a colossal headache because of it. Quintin Demps was a nice free agent signing but he’s 32-years old. A temporary solution at best. This defense isn’t going to reach its full potential without a playmaker in some capacity on the back end. Vic Fangio likes them big and he likes them versatile.
That is why John Johnson could quietly be coveted by them. He’s plenty big and strong enough to handle run defense duties required of the position. It’s his athleticism, speed and ball skills that tend to sneak up on people. He was a really good player at Boston College who never got his due because the teams just weren’t that good. How different might that end up being if they put him behind that front seven in Chicago?
. S. Boston College. John Johnson . 67. player. 57
