2017 NFL Draft: Top options for every top 10 team
Leonard Fournette, RB from LSU:
There’s belief that Fournette won’t even be on the board for the Panthers and I’m starting to believe that as well. However, if he’s on the board, he has to be their selection. He’d be a great fit in their power-run scheme and having him go downhill should light up fantasy teams everywhere.
At the Scouting Combine, Fournette checked in at 240 pounds while running a 4.50 second 40-yard dash. That’s just scary. There is some concern with his overall health and ability to be an every-down back. I think losing 12 pounds before his pro-day and running pass-catching drills really helped him solidify himself as a top-10 selection.
Gareon Conley, CB from Ohio State:
So what happens if Fournette is off the board when the Panthers pick? Gareon Conley is an intriguing option as he’s viewed by some as the best cornerback of this class. I’d easily compare him to his former teammate, Eli Apple.
Conley is the better prospect but he could easily rise up draft boards like Apple did. Conley is a long cornerback who terrific in press coverage. He closes well but doesn’t always play the ball properly. Even though the Panthers just signed Captain Munnerlyn, this is a solid value pick that will pay off down the road.
