It’s easy to say that the Detroit Lions have had a successful off-season. By adding T.J. Lang and Rick Wagner to their offensive line, they’re easily in play as having one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Not only did they add to their offense, they also added D.J. Hayden and Paul Worrilow on defense. Both are quality signings and are one-year “prove yourself” deals.

However, there was some subtraction to their team as they released longtime linebacker DeAndre Levy.

There was much belief that the move was going to happen during the season but the time has now come. Moving on from Levy makes sense from a football perspective and a business standpoint. By cutting him, the Lions save close to $6 million in cap space.

Approaching the draft, the Lions have already entered the early stages of contract negations with franchise quarterback, Matthew Stafford. There hasn’t been an exact contract figure given but it’s estimated that he’ll become the highest paid quarterback in NFL history. While the Lions continue to make business decisions on and off the field, another one they will consider is the 2017 NFL Draft. Let’s dive into a solid seven-round mock draft for the Detroit Lions!
