The 2017 NFL Draft’s consensus top prospect Myles Garrett is a lot of things; quirky, likable, and an undeniable superstar on the field.

After weeks, months even of being the top prospect and a lock for the first pick why are things becoming hazy all of a sudden? This is not a hard pick for Cleveland, they’re taking the guaranteed slam dunk.

Reports came out last night that apparently the Browns are split between Mitchell Trubisky and Garrett for the first overall pick. If that isn’t some kind of smokescreen or completely false rumor I don’t know what is. This is a no brainer people, the Browns need playmakers and not guys who have the potential to fall into round two with the first overall pick.

More from NFL Mocks

Trubisky is more likely to be there at 12 as opposed to other blue chip talents, not to mention if they want him so badly they can use their massive amount of draft picks to trade up. The Browns have reportedly had an astronomical grade on Myles Garrett since December, and he has been in constant contact with Gregg Williams and Hue Jackson, come on people.

Don’t believe the pre-draft smokescreens, every rational person knows the draft starts at pick number two this year. This is an attention grabber, something that stirs the people up, to build excitement for the draft which is now only 15 days away. Take the rational high road and don’t believe for a second that Mitch Trubisky will be the first overall pick.

This Browns front office, and staff isn’t stupid or even on the level that Ray Farmer was. They know Garrett’s a once in a generational player, they know that this is a weak QB class, and they know they have a  litany of picks to trade up and get a guy they feel strongly about if they have to do so.  Don’t believe the rumors, Myles Garrett will be the No. 1 Pick.
