3rd Round

The Bears cannot, or rather should not leave the first three rounds of this draft without grabbing a safety. The opportunity is there with a strong class from top to bottom. They have a chance to finally get a serious playmaker on the back end of their defense. Something they haven’t had for at least a decade when Mike Brown was still on the prowl. That’s equal parts depressing and worrisome. So they must try to fix it.
Marcus Williams is a name loaded with intrigue. A true center fielder type of safety with size, length and speed that allows him to cover lots of ground and make plays on the football. Teams who threw the ball in his area often paid for it thanks to his exceptional skills at forcing turnovers. The issue is whether he has the frame to play a more physical style. He’s considered somewhat lanky, which means he’ll have to add some weight.
. FS. Utah. Marcus Williams . 3. player. 57
