8. Chicago Bears (via CAR)

This might be considered somewhat of a surprise pick. It shouldn’t. Despite adding Dion Sims in free agency, the Chicago Bears are far from settled at the tight end position. Zach Miller has persistent health issues and behind him it’s a whole lot of question marks. GM Ryan Pace is all about taking the best player available whenever possible. This 2017 tight end class is loaded from top to bottom, and O.J. Howard is the best of the bunch.
He is a physical specimen. Howard boasts the big body and long arms necessary for quality blocking, both for the run and in pass protection. Where it gets really exciting is his athleticism. The guy moves and runs as well as a wide receiver. Every time the Crimson Tide featured him in the passing game, he produced major numbers. The guy is the most complete at his position to come out of college in years. An instant “impact” guy that Pace wants.
. TE. Alabama. O.J. Howard . 8. player. 57
