7. Los Angeles Chargers

13. Whether they ever admit it or not, the newly christened Los Angeles Chargers made a mistake letting Eric Weddle walk in free agency. Though their defense improved up front thanks to Joey Bosa, the loss of Weddle mitigated that effect. The stability he brought to the secondary was clearly lacking, and now the team is left scrambling trying to replace the loss. Lucky for them the 2017 draft class is stacked with safety talent.
Perhaps the most exciting of the bunch is Malik Hooker. This young man came out of nowhere from Ohio State in 2016. Despite playing most of the season injured, and it being his first year as starter, he still delivered seven interceptions and three defensive touchdowns. The kid is an absolute magician when it comes to taking the ball away. He’s got size, range, speed, awareness and hands. Put him behind that pass rush and let him feast.
. S. Ohio State.
