LSU running back Leonard Fournette, one of the top players available in the 2017 NFL Draft, checked into his pro day at 228 pounds…

When an NFL Draft prospect is as good as Leonard Fournette, we tend to nitpick as analysts. Fournette showed up to the Scouting Combine at what he described as a water-logged 240 pounds, and since that time, has apparently dropped 12 pounds…

Even at 240 pounds at the Scouting Combine, Fournette managed to run a 4.51 second 40-yard dash.

Listen. Leonard Fournette is what he is — he’s a freaking superstar in the making. Say what you want about his final season at LSU, where he was still running for 6.53 yards per carry while hurt basically the whole season.

There’s no questioning Fournette’s talent, so people wanted to make a big deal about his weight. It didn’t look like Fournette was carrying bad weight at all. This is just a big-bodied running back who is as strong as an ox. If he’s capable of running a 4.51 at 240, I’d be interested to know what he can run at 228, but we may not know.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Fournette opted to stand on his Combine numbers and just go through running back drills.

After putting the final touches on our big board (which will debut in the near future), Fournette checks in as the top running back without question and the third best player overall on the board. If he’s available for the Jacksonville Jaguars at no. 4 overall, he would be a dynamic game changer for that team.

After what we saw from Ezekiel Elliott last year in Dallas, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a team make a move up for Fournette. If he falls past the fourth overall pick, he’s going to be a steal for whatever team scoops him up.
