Kansas City Chiefs 2017 NFL Mock Draft: Finding Contributors in Every Round
The Chiefs’ have seemingly had solid edge rushers for years now, but they could be short on numbers next season. Even with adding McKinley in the first, another pass rusher would be ideal to develop.
Mathis had some excellent games in 2016 before getting hurt. He is more of a physical outside linebacker prospect who fits more as a run stopper than a pass rush specialist. This would work well for the team as they currently have more pass rush types at the position.
After signing starting right guard Laurent Duvarnay-Tardif to a 5-year extension this offseason, it took a little bit of pressure off of the need for an interior offensive lineman. They hit on 4th round pick Parker Ehinger in last years draft, as he started week one before going down for the year with a mid-season injury. Backup guard Zach Fulton is a free agent after the 2017 season, so some depth is needed.
Braden has the size and experience than the Chiefs covet at the position, and would provide some valuable depth at the position.
Other 5th round fits: Josh Reynolds WR Texas A&M, Brian Hill HB Wyoming, Devonte Fields OLB Louisville, Eddie Vanderdoes NT UCLA, Jeremy McNichols HB Boise State
