3rd Round

Their free agency blitz was a bust. The Bears did improve at cornerback with the arrivals of Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper, but not much has really changed. They still don’t have a true #1 guy. Not like they had in Charles Tillman. Somebody they can confidently put on the best receiver of every opponent without the need for constant safety help over the top. Depending on how patient they’re willing to be, that could change with this pick.
It sounds crazy that Sidney Jones could fall to the early 3rd round. He was viewed as one of the 2-3 best corners in the draft. However, this is what can happen when a guy is in a loaded class and suffers a significant injury. Achilles tears are no joke. It’s going to take time for him to recover and such injuries can be unpredictable. Teams may not be willing to invest a 1st or 2nd rounder in that. At the same time, presuming a proper recovery, the Bears get that lockdown guy they need.
. CB. Washington. Sidney Jones . 67. player. 57
