Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly, who tore his ACL in November, has been medically cleared to participate in Ole Miss’ pro day…

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly may not be anyone’s favorite person in this year’s draft, but as a quarterback prospect, he has intriguing tools. He suffered a torn ACL in November, and has been progressing really well in his recovery.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kelly has been medically cleared for the Ole Miss pro day and a scripted workout for NFL teams…

To make it brief, Kelly’s journey to the NFL has been full of potholes. His college career started at Clemson, where he redshirted his freshman year. He played a little bit for Clemson before being dismissed from the team in 2014. He then spent the 2014 season at East Mississippi Community College, which has become famous for the Netflix original series Last Chance U.

He helped EMCC to a National Title in 2014, and continued his dominant play the next season at Ole Miss, where he racked up 41 total touchdowns and was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl.

Things seemed to be progressing very well for Kelly, but he hasn’t been able to keep his name out of the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Kelly wasn’t as dominant as a senior in 2016 as he was the year prior, but he still showed off some arm talent. His season ended in November with a torn ACL, but he was still invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl where he undoubtedly spent time with NFL teams.

Now that he’s been cleared medically to participate in the Ole Miss pro day, it’s another chance for Kelly to remind NFL scouts of his skills as a quarterback to hopefully wash out some of the bad taste from his off-field antics. If he can prove that he’s not going to be a liability off the field, Kelly has a decent chance of getting drafted.

In the later rounds of the draft, he could be a nice risk/reward option for some team looking for a developmental quarterback.
