2nd Round (via CAR)
Cal. Davis Webb . 40. player. 57. Sure, there is the popular theory that the Bears should trade back up into the 1st round to get a quarterback. Problem is that’s never an easy thing to do, and not always possible. It’s just as likely they may have to settle for a second tier option. In which case they may try to move down from #36 before doing so. This time they have some success, striking a deal with Carolina to pick up an extra high 4th round pick before getting their man.
Davis Webb may think he’s going to be a 1st round pick. In truth that is unlikely. Though one of the most talented in the class in terms of size and arm strength, Webb is raw in a lot of areas and needs work. That sounds like a classic 2nd round pick. If the Bears put him behind Mike Glennon, who has a very similar body type and skill set, and also have a veteran mentor like Mark Sanchez on board, Webb may just reach his potential if given the time.
.
