It’s easy to speculate that the Chicago Bears can make all sorts of creative and aggressive moves in the 1st round of the upcoming 2017 NFL draft.

In reality the odds of that happening aren’t as high as they seem. To this point it’s looking more likely that they will have to stay put at the #3 overall pick. Thus they’re faced with the big decision. What do they do with it? One way or another it’s proof that any sort of creativity they can muster may have to wait for the later rounds. GM Ryan Pace has already proven he’s a man of conviction. He won’t pay too high a price for any one play. So instead, he sticks to the board.

1st Round

57. Ryan Pace has always operated under the same doctrine. He’s going to draft the best player available. That is the fastest way known to improve a roster to where it cane win. It worked well for the Bears last year as they produced a top quality class. Though the calls will grow loud for a quarterback, the odds are against that happening. There are just too many more talented players at other positions this year, especially on defense.
Besides, Solomon Thomas makes too much sense. He brings a ton of strength and dynamic ability to the front seven where it’s needed. His versatility will allow the coaching staff to move him around, creating havoc for opposing offenses. To top it off? He was born in Chicago. This guy seems like he was made to play for the Bears. The trio of him, Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman up front could be potentially devastating.
. DE.
