25. Houston Texans

Vanderbilt. Zach Cunningham . 25. player. 10. Everybody is saying the Houston Texans will be taking a quarterback in the 1st round of the draft. Frankly, that’s hard to believe. Why? GM Rick Smith, in his entire tenure dating back to 2006, has never taken a quarterback that high. Ever. The odds of it happening now aren’t very high, even in the midst of a potential crisis. Expect him to look defense. That’s typically his strong suit in the 1st round. They do have needs there despite the strengths.
Inside linebacker being a big one. Brian Cushing is a shadow of the player he once was and Benardrick McKinney has proven too inconsistent to this point. Zach Cunningham is everything they could want for that position. He’s instinctive, first and foremost. Able to sniff out what offenses will do presnap. Then he adds to that with athleticism, strength and tackling prowess. He’s the kind of guy who will clean up after his teammates.
. ILB
