Patrick Mahomes:  Arizona Cardinals

Bruce Arians and the Cardinals are in a dilemma. Carson Palmer is back for another year, which is good. Then again he’s 38-years old and likely flirting with retirement after this season. That makes the need to find his eventual heir all the more pressing. So who will it be? Arians is the key to this. He’s always been a coach who loves the vertical game. He’ll want a quarterback with some size, but most important a strong arm who can hit receivers with accuracy down the field.

Patrick Mahomes is undoubtedly his guy. The Texas Tech quarterback lives for making the big plays. He’ll remind Arians of Ben Roethlisberger almost right away, given their similar playing styles. The backyard approach, trying to keep plays alive before going for the big strike down the field. Mahomes has the strongest arm in the class and the confidence to use it. Give him a year behind Palmer and learning from Arians? That could be huge.
