4th Round (via PHI)

WR. Virginia Tech. Isaiah Ford . 139. player. 57. Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright may not individually replace what Alshon Jeffery was, but their speed additions to the offense should be a big help. Replacing Jeffery outright would be nice but sometimes it doesn’t work that way. The best thing for the Bears to do is add another decent talent to the position. Somebody with upside and hope the improved depth overcomes the primary loss. It’s been done before but requires adjustments in strategy.
An unfortunate performance at the Combine is sure to hurt the draft stock of Isaiah Ford, but that can’t totally hide his impressive tape. The Virginia Tech receiver was often a go-to guy in the offense. Every time the team needed a big play or a clutch catch, it always seemed like he was the one getting open. He brings solid size (6’2″) and good field speed, no matter what the radar gun says. He’ll need to refine his route running but the instinctive playmaking skill is already there.
