Leonard Floyd, Pernell McPhee and Willie Young form a nice trio of pass rushers for the Bears. However, they’re also a very unreliable trio. At least in terms of health status. Floyd and McPhee both dealt with injury problems in 2016. Young is 32-years old. Behind them is Lamarr Houston, coming off a torn ACL. Not to mention Roy Robertson-Harris who didn’t log a single snap. Suffice it to say there is absolutely zero harm in adding another body to that group.
Tarell Basham will fall under the tag of “good pass rusher but not a great athlete.” The athletic ones always go early. That said Basham showed at the Senior Bowl he’s more than capable of making quarterbacks uncomfortable. He proved that with 11.5 sacks last year, winning MAC Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors. He has good snap anticipation, quickness and an ability to deliver a bull rush when the speed doesn’t work. If he improves his hand use with those long arms, look out.
. EDGE. Ohio. Tarell Basham . 117. player. 57
