6. Cleveland Browns (via NYJ)

QB. Clemson. Deshaun Watson . 6. player. 53. Don’t be fooled. With the way free agency has played out and the reality that Jimmy Garoppolo is an unreachable goal, the Browns know they have to come out of this draft with a quarterback. Somebody they can build around for the future. They now have an offensive line in place and some decent weapons. There is plenty more to do but there is at least a foundation to work from. Often in such rebuilds it’s best to get the most mentally tough QB possible.
There is no question that tag belongs to Deshaun Watson. He didn’t just prove it in two outstanding national championship performances. He proved it across two seasons at Clemson where he lost just two games. Each of them despite putting up 40 points at least. He doesn’t like to lose. That’s good because the Browns are sick of losing. Watson is a tough competitor with the kind of athleticism and leadership they will need to climb the NFL ladder at last.
