18. Miami Dolphins (via ARI)

The Miami Dolphins did not get better at tight end with the arrivals of Julius Thomas and Anthony Fasano. They definitely got older but that’s about it. Thomas appears to have lost the game-breaking receiving ability that made him unstoppable in Denver. Fasano is pushing into his mid-30s and is mostly a blocker these days. There is no difference-maker in this tight end group. So the team decides to hedge their bets and go get one.
Why not shoot for the best? O.J. Howard is the king at the top of Mount Olympus. This tight end class is loaded. So saying he’s the best means a lot. Not only does he have the size, power and technique of a great blocker, he dominated the national championship twice as a receiver. He’s the consummate dual-threat who helps the offense in a myriad of ways. Need him to protect? Done. Need him to catch a touchdown? Easy. He does it all.
. TE. Alabama. O.J.
