Terrance Williams, WR

Re-signed on a 4-year, $17 million contract

While the signing of Terrance Williams wasn’t necessarily a free agent acquisition, it’s the most important move the Cowboys have made thus far. With so many questions surrounding the holes on the roster, finding wide receiver help was a must. On top of that, the current market for players like Williams’ was far more pricey than the Cowboys would be willing (and able) to pay. Nevertheless, Williams’ showed something that most free agent’s don’t. Loyalty. His addition was huge for the continuity of this offense.

Brice Butler, WR

Re-signed on a 1-year, $1.1 million contract

Another signing that wasn’t technically a free agent, Brice Butler originally appeared to be a desperation signing. However, his addition keeps the offense largely in-tact and gives Prescott the same weapons he used so well during his rookie campaign.

Nolan Carroll, CB

Signed on a 3-year, $10 million contract (formerly Philadelphia Eagles)

With both Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr expected to hit (and possibly depart) free agency, the Cowboys needed to cover themselves. While it was a quiet signing, Nolan Carroll brings some much-needed stability to the secondary and should be an early contributor. He also comes on a relatively affordable contract that shouldn’t overburden the Cowboys roster down the road.

Stephen Paea, DT

Signed on a 1-year, $2 million contract (formerly Cleveland Browns)

With the departure of McClain, it was obvious the Cowboys would need to find another rotational piece on this defensive line. Stephen Paea had his best season under current defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli and likely led to the interest in signing him. Paea is a strong player with the traits that Marinelli should be able to use to make him a valuable part of the rotation up front.

 Damontre Moore, DE

Contract details undisclosed (formerly Seattle Seahawks)

After being selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft, Moore has failed to live up to any expectation his college production seemed to create. He was eventually waived and signed a 1-year deal with the Seahawks. He has failed to produce, and attitude issues have affected the locker room, but his physical traits and college production could give Marinelli something to work with. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t make it past training camp, though.
