30. Pittsburgh Steelers

55. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a real bind. Their linebacking corps is getting old and thin in a number of key spots. Even with the return of James Harrison their pass rush remains dangerously limited outside of him and Bud Dupree. Jarvis Jones will be a free agent. Given how things went in the AFC championship, it’s clear the Steelers defense still has a ways to go. Adding another young rusher to the rotation is never a bad plan.
One of the names that continues to fly under the radar is Carl Lawson. The Auburn product was a consistent headache for opposing offenses thanks to his ability to penetrate the backfield. Despite injury problems that dogged him early in his career, he still managed 9.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss his final year. He’s got an impressive array of pass rush moves, quickness, solid strength and a high motor. Yet it was the strong burst he showed at the scouting combine that put it over the top.
. OLB. Auburn.
