16. Arizona Cardinals (via BAL)

16. player. 32. The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly dead set on finding a young quarterback this year. Not a surprise given the status of Carson Palmer. Not only is he one of the oldest starting quarterbacks in the NFL, he’s also unlikely to keep playing much longer. They can’t afford to put off finding an heir any longer. While the 1st round may sound like a bit early for them, the odds of them finding a future starter later on are slim. So best to get their guy now.
A bigger story is who they end up going with. Patrick Mahomes gets ahead of Deshone Kizer in a big upset. Why? Creativity and playmaking skill. Mahomes is far from a polished product but his game tape doesn’t lie. There is no better improvisational QB in this class. The more a play breaks down, the better he becomes. He’s got a gun for an arm, something Bruce Arians loves, good size and a gunslinger mentality. With some work he has a chance to be great.
. QB. Texas Tech. Patrick Mahomes
