Up:  George Kittle (TE, Iowa)

In a loaded tight end group it was going to take quite a combine performance for George Kittle to get noticed. What with average production during his time at Iowa. The young man proved up to the challenge, posting top six numbers in the broad jump, vertical leap and 40-yard dash. His body size and athletic upside showcase the type of weaponized tight end who can impact the passing game as a receiver. It all depends on what offense he ends up in.

Down:  Hayden Plinke (TE, Texas-El Paso)

There was a small buzz starting to pick up around Hayden Plinke prior to the combine. They felt the small school tight end had the ideal body type and solid tape to make one think his best days are ahead. Unfortunately he got stuck in the mud during drills. Most of his showings were average-to-below average from a 4.97 in the 40 to a 28-inch vertical leap. Nothing really stood out about him, and that’s never a good thing at such an important event.
