John Ross broke a record many deemed unbreakable at the NFL Combine
There’s fast, then there’s Chris Johnson fast. Now, there’s John Ross fast.
Washington wide receiver John Ross entered the NFL Combine with a unique speed many were excited to see how he would run.
Ross certainly did not disappoint, putting on a show with just one run during the 40-Yard Dash to break Chris Johnson’s record 4.24 run.
Officially the fastest 40-yard dash... EVER.

4.22.
Congratulations, @WatchJRoss! #NFLCombine https://t.co/nlos6YyKM8
Ross appeared to cramp up at the end of his historic run and sat out the second attempt.
Adidas offered any prospect who wore their cleats the opportunity to win an island, yes a real island, if they broke Johnson’s record with their cleats. Unfortunately, Ross chose Nike and will not get the Adidas island.
Ross wasn’t too upset he missed out on the island when asked by Michael Irvin.

Johnson appeared to have responded to his record being broken on Twitter with the following emojis.

Ross looked to be a mid to late first round pick before his run, but now it looks like teams can lock him in as a top 20 pick at a minimum.
Neither Corey Davis nor Mike Williams, the consensus top two wide receivers, ran the 40, giving Ross a unique advantage.
Expect Philadelphia, Cleveland, Baltimore, Tennessee, and Buffalo to take a closer look at Ross leading up to the NFL Draft at the end of April.
