Already the Browns and Titans are exploring trading down again this year, but isn’t there a strong chance the Chicago Bears could do it this time?

Think about it. Ryan Pace is a scout at heart. He showed in 2016 that he can move down in a draft multiple times and still find players of value. Just ask Cody Whitehair. Why wouldn’t he entertain the idea of trying to stockpile more picks? Especially given the depth of this draft. So that is what this mock draft will explore. A number of trade down scenarios that sees the Bears go from seven selections to no fewer than 12. How did they do it?

Follow along.

Patrick Mahomes . 12. player. 57. Ryan Pace admitted it would be nice to get some extra picks for this draft. Not surprising since his team needs a lot of work still. It comes down to finding a trade partner and whether he trusts his boards. Cleveland on the other hand is overloaded with extra picks and plenty prepared for a deal. After taking Myles Garrett #1, they pull an unorthodox tactic of moving up to #3. With it they grab their QB of the future. Meanwhile the Bears stockpile.
That doesn’t mean they don’t have eyes for a QB too. Patrick Mahomes is too big of a risk to go in the top 10 due to his raw mechanics and fundamentals. However, his physical tools rank among the best in the class. His creativity, deep ball accuracy, mobility and never-say-die attitude make him a tantalizing prospect if given the time to develop. He has the most upside of anybody in this draft, and the Bears are in a position to give him the pieces he needs.
. QB. Texas Tech
