Oakland Raiders trade QB Carson Palmer to Arizona Cardinals

It was barely a blip on the radar screen in 2013. Most felt Carson Palmer was a washed quarterback after an ugly end to his time in Cincinnati and two forgettable seasons in Oakland. New Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians needed a quarterback though. So the team decided to gamble that the craft offensive coach could breath some new life into the quarterback. They acquired him for a 6th round pick that year and a conditional one in 2014.

Oakland got a couple role players out of the deal. The Cardinals got their franchise quarterback. In another “Kurt Warner” type steal, Palmer revitalized his career under Arians. He helped them go 10-6 in 2013 and went to the Pro Bowl in 2015 while reaching the NFC championship game. He’s also thrown for over 4,000 yards in three of the four seasons he’s played under center for that. Safe to say that’s quite a steal for Arizona. They may get one more good year out of it in 2017 too.
