7. San Diego Chargers

Malik Hooker . 7. player. 13. The old saying goes that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Clearly the Chargers thought they’d be just fine in the defensive secondary without star safety Eric Weddle. Instead they boasted the 20th ranked pass defense in the NFL. This despite having two stud pass rushers in Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. That security blanket on the back end was clearly missing and it cost the coaches their job in the end.
Odds are the team will work fast to get it corrected. Malik Hooker may have only started one year at Ohio State, but he made it count with seven interceptions and three defensive touchdowns. He’s big, fast, instinctive and plays the safety position like a wide receiver. When the ball is in the air, it belongs to him and nobody else. The Ed Reed comparisons may be lofty, but definitely not impossible.
. S. Ohio State
