24. Chicago Bears (via OAK)

Patrick Mahomes . 24. player. 57. The Bears know they can’t afford to wait any longer in getting their quarterback of the future. Jay Cutler is on his way out. Perhaps they may bring in a temporary veteran option like a Tony Romo or Brian Hoyer, but that changes nothing. They need to draft somebody high who they can start molding for the future, and given the lack of depth in this class the odds are they’ll have to get back into the 1st round to get him.
Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech may be the dark horse of the top names in this class. He’s not getting near the same attention, yet he may have more physical potential than any of them. He’s big, mobile, and features a cannon arm with uncanny accuracy at all levels of the field. A true gamer who is fearless at taking chances when they are warranted. His biggest drawback is simple lack of mechanical development. Easily coachable with some time.
. QB. Texas Tech
