57. It’s no secret the Bears are searching for serious playmakers on the back end of their defense. The last time they had a Pro Bowl safety was a decade ago and even then it was a bit of a disappointment due to injuries. Their new defense can’t expect to reach its full potential until they find that guy who can direct the ship from that perch. Adrian Amos, Harold Jones-Quartey and Deon Bush were nice attempts but not good enough.

The 2017 class is ready and able to oblige. Marcus Williams would be a 1st rounder in most years but the richness of this crop makes it possible for the Bears to get him here. He’s a rangy, athletic and instinctive safety who plays the classic “robber” role of patrolling the field and making plays in coverage. He’s got excellent ball skills, but doesn’t shirk other duties like tackling or giving a good hit from time to time.
. S. Utah. Marcus Williams . 33. player
