Ohio State’s Curtis Samuel could be the next Ty Montgomery drafted into the NFL

This season he was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press and the Sporting News. He posted 2,535 scrimmage yards and 24 touchdowns in three seasons with an even split of 1,286 and 1,249 rushing and receiving yards.

Measurables:

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 197 lbs.

40yd Dash Time: 4.36 (unofficial)

Position: RB/WR

Games Watched:

2016- Bowling Green, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Michigan, Clemson

Strengths:

Versatility will make him coveted, he can do it all from return punts, to take handoffs, to split out wide and run routes. Has good hands and made a lot of big plays through the air. Footwork on catches on the sideline is NFL ready, the sideline catch on a J.T. Barrett scramble was NFL caliber getting two feet down and turning it up field. Great athlete with good speed and burst.

Weaknesses:

Not a lot of tape of him blocking, or picking up blitzes as a running back could hurt his stock as a back. Samuel doesn’t have the strength or size to sit back and anchor as run blocker for long, will need to add some bulk at the next level. He did have some issues with drops at the college level. More of an outside the tackles runner, and playmaker in space, doesn’t have the strength to move the piles as a back.

Pro Comparison: Ty Montgomery

Projection: 2nd Round
