CB. Alabama. Marlon Humphrey . 21. player. 50. Where did the Detroit Lions go wrong when they fell apart so thoroughly down the stretch this season? There are a number of factors involved, but a big one was the exposure of their rather weak pass defense. Outside of Darius Slay they really don’t have any cornerbacks who are proven to handle top NFL competition. In order to ease some of the pressure on their pass rush, that will have to change.

They do seem to favor corners with some length. That makes Alabama starter Marlon Humphrey a definite option. He made a living in man coverage for the Crimson Tide the past two years. Though a bit stiff due to his longer frame, he’s got plenty of ability to be sticky in coverage with receivers. It’s rare to see him give up much separation at all, and doesn’t draw many flags either. He would be a starter right off the bat.
