Oakland Raiders impending free agents and top team needs

Andre Holmes, WR

Holmes is already 28 years old, but in the last three seasons, he’s caught 11 touchdown passes, including three touchdowns on just 14 grabs this past year. Holmes has intriguing size at 6-4 and may be an ideal fit as an outlet for Derek Carr in the passing game.

It would be wise for the Raiders to try and bring Holmes back on a one or two year contract to keep him as an added weapon in the passing game.

Mychal Rivera, TE

Rivera hasn’t blossomed into the player it looked like he was capable of being when he played pretty extensively in his first two years in the league, but there’s some upside here.

Just 26, Rivera is likely to get a better gig with another team this offseason as the Raiders have under-utilized him in the last two seasons. I think he’ll be one of the more underrated options on the free agent market this offseason, and could wind up a starter for some team at some point.

D.J. Hayden, CB

D.J. Hayden is not Reggie McKenzie’s best first round pick as GM of the Raiders, and this offseason will likely be the time he decides to move on and start fresh.

Hayden has been unable to lock down a role in the Raiders’ defense, and will need to prove at his next stop that he deserves playing time. Injuries have been an issue for the 26-year old Hayden in his career. He has just three career interceptions in four seasons.
